Evaluation of Gamma Ray Induced Mutants in Vernonia Galamensis (Cass.) Less.

The oil of Vernonia galmensis (Cass.) Less. Is a rich source of epoxy triglycerides. Following gamma irradiation of seeds, ten mutants with desirable plant traits were isolated. On evaluation, three of them, viz., RLJ-5, RLJ-12 and RLJ-15 were found to be promising while others could form the source of variability for exploitation in further breeding programmes.
