Equine review

Steph Mann

Extreme summer temperatures have become increasingly common across many parts of the world, with the northern hemisphere experiencing record-breaking heatwaves during 2025 and 2026. While much of the discussion has centred on human health and wildfire impacts, these conditions also present significant challenges for equine welfare and athletic performance. Together these recent studies provide new evidence to help guide the prevention and management of exercise-associated heat stress before, during and after work.
