Epitaxial Self‐Assembly of Flower‐Like Ni 4 Mo–TiO 2 Composite for Enhancing the Hydrogen Storage Performance of MgH 2 Gangqiang Wu, Lei Jiang, Xizhe Lu, Yuanfei Zheng, Ying Yu, Chao Li, Zhongmin Lang

In this study, a flower‐like composite catalyst consisting of Ni 4 Mo supported on TiO 2 was prepared and introduced into MgH 2 . It was found that the composite catalyst exhibits superior catalytic effects compared to the individual addition of Ni 4 Mo or TiO 2 as separate components. Specifically, the MgH 2 ‐10 wt% Ni 4 Mo–TiO 2 composite initiates hydrogen desorption at 200.6 °C, which is 71.2 °C lower than that of pure ball‐milled MgH 2 . Kinetic analysis reveals that the composite catalyst reduces the activation energy of MgH 2 to 73.30 kJ/mol, whereas the activation energy for MgH 2 with individual Ni 4 Mo or TiO 2 is 83.99 or 77.2 kJ/mol. Further investigation indicates that during hydrogen absorption/desorption cycles, the alloy structure of Ni 4 Mo is gradually disrupted, leading to the formation of active species such as TiO 2 , Mg 2 Ni, and Mo. Compared with the individual Ni 4 Mo and TiO 2 catalysts, the Ni 4 Mo‐TiO 2 composite exhibits superior catalytic performance due to the synergistic interaction between the two components, thereby effectively enhancing the hydrogen storage performance of MgH 2 .
