Truth in the algorithmic age no longer emerges from human deliberation alone but from the coded architectures that organize, rank, and interpret information. The rise of algorithmic fact-checking systems reveals how verification has become an infrastructural practice, embedded in platforms that translate social values into computational logic. Algorithms do not merely detect misinformation; they shape the conditions through which knowledge is defined, stabilized, and believed. Within these systems, credibility is performed through design choices, annotation protocols, and governance frameworks that silently encode judgments about what counts as reliable or authoritative. Fact-checking systems illustrate how epistemic authority now circulates through platforms that merge automation with institutional norms. Their operations reveal how power, bias, and legitimacy are materialized through data pipelines and interface design rather than open deliberation. What emerges is a new politics of truth, where computational infrastructures act as epistemic actors in their own right. Understanding how these systems govern the flow of knowledge requires more than evaluating accuracy; it calls for attention to reflexivity, transparency, and inclusivity in the architectures that sustain public understanding. Truth, in this view, is not a static object to be verified but a social relation, continuously negotiated through the interplay of code, governance, and human interpretation.
