Epidermoid Cyst of the Breast With Ultrasonographic Manifestation: A Case Report

Hong Ouyang, Xinrong Zhong, Xing Huang, Xiaohong Xu

ABSTRACT

Epidermal cysts are common benign cutaneous lesions that may occur on anybody skin surface, with a predilection for hair follicles, and generally demonstrate a favorable prognosis with few complications. In comparison, breast epidermal cysts are extremely rare. Given the unique anatomical and glandular features of breast tissue, these lesions are more susceptible to infection, rupture, and malignant transformation than epidermal cysts occurring at other cutaneous sites. This study analyzed the multimodal ultrasonographic findings of one case and reviewed relevant literature to summarize its clinical and imaging features, aiming to improve diagnostic awareness and accuracy for this rare breast lesion.
