Epidemiological Study of Bacterial and Fungal Pathogens in Freshwater Fish from Manjara River, India
Madhuri Y. Bhande, Savita O. BondharePresent study investigates prevalence of bacterial and fungal pathogens in freshwater fishes inhabiting Manjara River in Latur district, Maharashtra, India. Diseased fish samples were collected from five sampling sites along the river and examined for microbial infections. Isolation and identification of bacterial and fungal pathogens were performed using standard microbiological techniques.. The study recorded several pathogenic bacteria such as Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, and Vibrio, along with fungal pathogens including Saprolegnia, Aspergillus, and Candida. Variations among fish species and sampling locations indicated influence of environmental conditions and water quality parameters. Physicochemical parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and nutrient levels were also analysed and correlated with the occurrence of pathogen.
