Entrustable Professional Activities in UK postgraduate Dental Education: A Narrative Review

Entrustable Professional Activities have recently been incorporated into the Early Years Dental Training Curriculum (EYDTC) in England and Wales for the Foundation Dentist (FD), Foundation Dental Therapist (FDT), Dental Core Training (DCT), and Joint Dental Foundation and Core Training (JDFCT) programmes. They have also been adopted by Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) and the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) to support the assessment of dentists and dental nurses working in general anaesthetic settings. This article outlines the development and implementation of EPAs, reviews the supporting evidence, and presents the EPAs that have been developed for the EYDTC in the UK.
