Entering the Process
Pasi HeikkurinenAbstract
After a brief introduction of sustainability scientists’ encounters, Chapter 6 tackles the chief problem in processual thinking, finding a meaningful point of entry, and gives instructions for how to enter the process or how to get orientated in this processual manner. Process does not reduce to language, but it does include it and all the other phenomena. It demonstrates how sustainability scientists can turn their enquiry into a process orientation. Sustainability is investigated as a process. The remaining introductory question is then about enacting when and where our time and place fall on us. This means paying special attention to the here and now by cultivating the skill of waiting to be let in.
