Abstract

The red imported fire ant, Solenopsis invicta Buren, ranks among the world’s most destructive invasive ants, having caused significant economic losses, biodiversity decline, and public health issues in invaded regions. In this case study, we first outline key aspects of S. invicta life history and landscape features that influence its establishment, colony growth, and spread. We then present findings from field surveys examining these factors in eastern China. We anticipate that this case study will deepen understanding of S. invicta invasion biology and contribute to the optimization of monitoring and control strategies.
