ABSTRACT

Ensuring uncompromised safety across interconnected domains is vital for global societal sustainability. Metal–organic framework (MOF)‐based nanocomposites, owing to their intrinsically tunable structures and broad functional versatility, represent a powerful class of materials for safety‐related engineering. In this work, we present an integrated overview of MOF‐based nanocomposites applied to food safety, fire protection, information security, healthcare, and battery safety. We begin by outlining the fundamental design principles of MOFs, with a critical appraisal of synthetic routes and their influence on overall material performance. Subsequently, we address prevailing hurdles, including domain‐specific functional demands, environmental resilience, and scalable production, and then highlight recent advances in material innovation and emerging application scenarios that directly tackle these issues. Finally, we offer prospective insights, underscoring the urgent need to overcome cost and durability barriers for practical, large‐scale deployment. This review serves as a unified framework that bridges diverse safety fields, material design strategies, and implementation pathways, while laying the groundwork for next‐generation safety systems.
