Endoparasitism in captive tigers (Panthera tigris) at Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu

SridharThe study assessed the incidence of endoparasitism in captive tigers (Panthera tigris) maintained at Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, Tamil Nadu. A total of 26 scat samples were collected from captive tigers during June-July, 2024. All the samples were examined by standard qualitative faecal examination methods (direct smear, centrifugal sedimentation, floatation methods and quantitative technique). Out of 26 samples, 7 (26.92%) revealed the incidence of Toxocara cati infection, while one sample (3.85%) revealed strongyle ova. The overall incidence of helminthic infection was observed as 30.76%.
