Emergence of hexanematic order in a growing confluent cell monolayer

A minimal biophysical model reveals hexanematic order in collective migration – larger nematic cells concentrate at the tissue periphery, while smaller hexatic cells remain in the bulk, driven by free-space-biased motion, cell growth, and division.
