Electron paramagnetic resonance and photoluminescence study on local structure of Gd3+ ions in Gd-doped CaF2 crystals

The EPR spectra of CaF2 with different Gd-doping concentrations were fitted, combined calculations revealed that most of the Gd3+ in 1.22 at% Gd:CaF2 are distributed as a dimer with a distance of 7.7 Å distributed along the [110] direction.
