A Controversial German Prelate at the Curia. Two Studies on the Life of Rudolf (von) Gerlach. This article discusses two new publications on a German prelate who held a position of trust at the Curia before and during the First World War and was accused by Italy of spying for the Central Powers. Having left the Church in later years, he became an informant for the British secret service on Hitler’s Germany.
