Ein kleines Buch mit vielen Enden. Plessners Grenzen der Gemeinschaft. Rezeptionslinien – Jugend und Fortschritt
Wolfgang EssbachAbstract
A small book with many ends. Plessner’s Limits of Community. Lines of reception – youth and progress. The first part deals with lines of reception of Plessner’s Limits of Community ( Grenzschrift ), starting with a review of the reception after 1989 and with examples of how Plessner’s Grenzschrift can be introduced into current debates. It deals with the many-voiced discussion about the position of the Grenzschrift within Plessner’s oeuvre, which concerns the core question of the relations between natural and historical philosophy and the special position of Plessner’s anthropological basic law of “mediated immediacy”.
The second part is about Plessner’s participation in the youth movement and his confrontation with it in the Grenzschrift , which was often misunderstood as sweeping criticism. From the spectrum of the intellectual and historical contexts of this movement, the topic of youth and progress is dealt with in particular.
