Abstract

Female external urine wicking devices (FEUWDs) are an alternative to indwelling urinary catheters that may decrease the risk of urinary tract infection. We found that sponge sections from a commercial FEUWD impregnated with zinc pyrithione and thiabendazole inhibited growth of bacterial and fungal pathogens, whereas 3 other FEUWDs did not.
