Effectiveness of ATMA Training Programme: An Evaluation Strategy for Capability Building

SinghDOE, Sabour Bihar in collaboration to ATMA provides need-based trainings to farmers to enhance their knowledge and skill so that they can do their job more efficiently and effectively. Bihar Agriculture university, conducts its training programme at Directorate of Extension, BAU, Sabour. The present study has been done to know the impact of the training programme in terms of training effectiveness with 418 trainees who were trained under BAU, Sabour and revealed that training content level’ with mean score of 2.71and ‘satisfactory level ‘with mean score of 2.81were the most important aspects where training was found effective by the participants. Regression coefficient obtained from multiple linear regression analysis of independent variable with training effectiveness of training programmes. Variables like Education obtained, annual income and risk-taking ability were showing positive and significant contribution toward training effectiveness at 0.05 level of probability. The study also investigates the problems that were faced by the trainees during the training programmes indicated that majority of 73.45 per cent of the trainees reported that there was unavailability of the required production inputs at the farmer's doorstep These findings suggested that a greater number of trainings should be organized by BAU, Sabour in collaboration to ATMA for enhancing the knowledge, skill and capacity of farmers in Bihar.
