Jaya Krishna, Dhananjoy DuttaA field experiment was conducted during Kharif seasons (July-October) of 2022 and 2023 at the Instructional farm of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal, India to evaluate the effect of different weed management treatments on weeds and direct dry-seeded rice (Satabdi variety/IET-4786) growth, yield and nutrient uptake. Randomized complete block design was used with three replications. There were nine treatments, viz. weedy check; post-emergence application (PoE) of fenoxaprop-p-ethyl 51.75g/ha and 69 g/ha at 15 days after sowing (DAS), cyhalofop-butyl 80 g/ha PoE at 15 DAS; pre-emergence application (PE) of pretilachlor 0.75 kg/ha followed by (fb) fenoxaprop-p-ethyl 51.75 g /ha and 69 g/ha PoE at 15 DAS, pretilachlor 0.75 kg/ha PE fb cyhalofop-butyl 80 g/ha; hand weeding twice at 20 and 40 days after sowing (DAS) and weed free (hand weeding at 15 days interval). Pretilachlor 0.75 kg /ha PE at 3 DAS fb fenoxaprop-p-ethyl 69 g/ha PoE at 15 DAS has registered highest rice growth performance, yield attributes, grain and straw yield with higher benefit-cost ratio during both the years. The weed free and hand weeding twice were effective but benefit-cost ratio was lowest due to the high labour cost.
