Educator Wellbeing and Resilience Within a Continuum of School Leadership Preparation
Tyrone Bynoe, David ErsigSchool building and district leaders have left their jobs due to work intensification within bureaucratic organizational structures and subsequently through inadequate competencies, skills, and dispositions in wellbeing and resilience. Given this persistent challenge, the book chapter delves into what constitutes the effective preparation of educator wellbeing and resilience within a continuum of school leadership preparation during the three phases of this continuum involving initial preparation. It further examines what evidence-based findings comprise effective school leadership preparation in the enduring attributes of wellbeing and resilience. The findings to these questions formulate a conceptual model of how wellbeing and resilience are nurtured within a continuum of school leadership preparation. This chapter also provides substantiating evidence from educator preparation programs and supervisory practice on how wellbeing and resilience are developed within public school administrators through a continuum of school leadership preparation.
