Eco‐Friendly One‐Pot Multicomponent Synthesis of 4‐arylidene‐3‐methylisoxazole‐5(4H)‐ones Catalyzed by Hexamolybdoferrate(III) Pentahydrate

ABSTRACT

The investigation into sustainable synthetic methodologies has been motivated by the growing need for ecologically friendly and sustainable chemical processes. Iron‐substituted Anderson‐type polyoxometalate [Na 3 H 6 FeMo 6 O 24 ·5H 2 O] is used for the one‐pot three‐component synthesis of 4‐arylidene‐3‐methylisoxazole‐5(4H)‐ones. This method represents an environmentally benign approach, as the reaction proceeds efficiently at room temperature in water, making it easy to unravel, thereby avoiding toxic solvents and reducing energy consumption. It offers an excellent yield, facilitates easy synthesis, and features a time‐efficient process. The synthesized 4‐arylidene‐3‐methylisoxazole‐5(4H)‐one analogues are characterized by melting point, IR, 1 H NMR, and 13 C NMR spectroscopy, demonstrating their successful formation. Although Na 3 H 6 FeMo 6 O 24 ·5H 2 O is a homogeneous catalyst, it has been successfully recycled up to five times with minimum efficiency loss.
