Early Bronze Age Pottery from Dadağ Höyük
Tuğçe Şener, Fevzi Volkan Güngördü The present study comprises evaluations of Early Bronze Age pottery from Dadağ Höyük, which was added to the extant literature during the NENESU surveys conducted under the direction of F. Volkan Güngördü. The present study focuses on the Neolithic settlements of Nevşehir, and it examined material collected between 2020 and 2022 from the mound visited during this period. Dadağ Höyük is located in the Gülşehir district of Nevşehir and is one of the smaller mounds in the Central Anatolia region. Research undertaken at Dadağ Mound, which is comprised of two distinct components, Upper and Lower Town, has revealed that the settlement was inhabited from the 3rd millennium BC until the conclusion of the Hellenistic period. The primary objective of the present study is to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the nature of Early Bronze Age pottery from Dadağ. This will be achieved by establishing cultural connections through ceramic material and by attempting to determine a chronological time frame. The Early Bronze Age pottery, the subject of the present article and extensively distributed across the mound, has been evaluated using macroscopic methods in terms of its clay composition, surface characteristics, and technical properties. Initially, the ceramic fragments dating to the relevant period have been categorised according to material groups. Subsequently, a typological distinction has been made based on the form of the vessels. Following a thorough examination of the available data, it was determined that the ceramic traditions observed in the northern and southern regions of Central Anatolia coexisted.
