Low-velocity impact response (LIR) of multilayer foam-filled X-shaped core sandwich beams (MFXSBs) is investigated analytically and numerically in this paper. Based on the yield criterion, an analytical solution of the dynamic behavior of clamped MFXSBs is developed. Finite element calculations are conducted. The analytical predictions show good agreement with finite element results. Additionally, the effects of face-sheet thickness, foam strength and inclination angle of the folded plates on dynamic response of MFXSBs are discussed. It is illustrated that with increasing metal face-sheet thickness, foam strength and the inclination angle of folded plates, impact force rises for a certain deflection and the max deflection decreases for a certain impact energy. The proposed analytical model accurately predicts the LIR of MFXSBs.
