Padhi, M.K., Giri, S.C. and Sahoo, S.K. 2025. Duck farmer’s perception, constraints and expectation from research organization on duck rearing practices. Indian Journal of Poultry Science, 60(1): 97-101. A study was conducted with 167 numbers of duck farmers in respect to their liking for duck farming, constraints faced, preferred breed, best time to start duck farming and marketing etc.at Regional Station of ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Bhubaneswar. Most of the farmers (38.92%) informed that they are rearing duck for both egg and meat purpose followed by egg purpose (26.35%) and profitable business (19.16%). Preferred breed for duck farming is for Khaki Campbell followed by Desi duck and White Pekin. Best time they informed to start duck farming in a year is rainy season followed by other seasons. Though more than 50% informed no problems in duck farming; however, some (17%) informed the mortality during brooding as a serious issue. Their most important expectation from the organization is availability of quality ducklings at the time of their need. Most of the farmers are disposing of their duck and egg either in the local market or to the local consumers at home, or to the local business man. The study is able to record the different facets of duck farming as perceived by the farmers.
