Dual Implantable Electronic Device Therapy and Pyloroplasty in the Setting of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome With Superimposed Gastroparesis
Mira Yang, Ritam H. Patel, Swati Yarlagadda, Joy J. LiuGastroparesis (Gp) and cyclic vomiting syndrome are both characterized by nausea and vomiting, with some patients meeting criteria for both disorders. Gastric electrical stimulation (GES) is a potential treatment for patients with Gp refractory to conservative and first-line treatments and can be used in conjunction with surgical pyloroplasty. While the safety and efficacy of GES and pyloroplasty have been demonstrated, minimal literature discusses the implications of dual implantation of GES with an existing implantable electronic device. This case report describes successful combined GES device implantation and surgical pyloroplasty in a patient with an existing implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.
