Does Context Matter for Parenthood Aspirations and Realized Fertility of LGB Individuals? A Comparison Across Two Cohorts
Gioia GeremiaHighlights
This is the first study of parenthood desires among LGB people across cohorts using a nationally representative sample. The prevalence of child-free desires among lesbian women has decreased across cohorts. Parenthood desires among gay and bisexual men have increased or remained stable across cohorts. Bisexual women show little cohort variation. Overall, desires for parenthood are higher when obstacles to accessing it are lower.
