Digitalization of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Authenticity and Behavioral Intention

The primary objective of this study is to determine the effects of digital intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and digital ICH authenticity on individuals' behavioral intentions. For this purpose, the study population consists of individuals aged 18 and older throughout Turkey. No restrictions were imposed on the study sample, and data were collected using a convenience sampling method via a questionnaire. Data collection was completed between July 15 and September 15, 2025. Before data collection, participants were shown videos and photographs from the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Online Exhibition. 390 participants were reached during this process. SPSS and LISREL packages were used in the analyses. According to the analysis results, digital ICH and digital ICH authenticity significantly and positively affect individuals' behavioral intentions. Another finding of the study is that digital ICH significantly and positively affects the perception of digital ICH authenticity. This study provides insight into the potential contributions of the digitalization of ICH. In conclusion, the digitalization of ICH elements influences individuals' behavioral intentions.
