First, it defines and highlights the evolution and conceptualization of digital transformation by reviewing the broader business and management literature. Second, the article delves into the sport management literature to understand existing research involving digital transformation. Then, a review of current sport event management literature and archival materials (i.e., official websites, press releases, online newspapers, and social media) is provided to offer insights into how digital transformation is practiced within sport events. Challenges and factors that influence digital transformation are also highlighted. Finally, the current status of digital transformation in sport events, key insights for sport event practitioners, and suggestions for future research are provided.
