Digital Platforms Within Indian Entrepreneurial Forms
Jillet Sarah Sam, Shriram Venkatraman, Rajorshi RayAbstract
This chapter focuses on digital platforms within entrepreneurial forms in India. It explores how hyperlocal logics, such as the need to generate legitimacy within and outside the firm, shape how platform solutions are sought for entrepreneurship. Digital platforms also navigate within vernacular fields of entrepreneurship in India. Here, digital platforms are selectively employed to strengthen these community networks further. The chapter also illustrates that entrepreneurs define the scale of their entrepreneurship and the associated interactions with digital platforms within the framework of social norms and values stemming from geographically bounded communities and relational ties with employees and customers.
