DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE OF HARD-TO-REACH TERRITORIES AS A WAY TO REDUCE ECONOMIC ISOLATION AND ENSURE ECONOMIC SECURITY OF THE REGION
Sergey Hmelev, Andrei VasilchukThe article examines the digital infrastructure of hard-to-reach territories as a way to reduce their economic isolation and ensuring regional economic security. It is shown that sustainable Internet access expands the opportunities of residents and economic entities to interact with markets, financial institutions, public authorities, and the labour market. The study identifies specific business operations for which digital infrastructure can reduce dependence on physical distance. It is substantiated that digital accessibility contributes to the integration of remote territories into regional economic relations, while not eliminating the constraints associated with the physical movement of goods, resources, and workers.
