Dielectric Elastomer Sensors: Principles and Applications

Leipeng Liu, Lei Peng

Dielectric elastomer (DE) sensors have become a primary research focus in the field of flexible electronics due to their high flexibility, tolerance for large deformations, and excellent electromechanical response characteristics. This chapter systematically reviews the strain/pressure dual-mode sensing mechanisms of DE sensors and briefly describes approaches for enhancing their performance, such as microstructure design and material modification. Furthermore, applications in biomedical monitoring, wearable devices, and soft robotics have demonstrated the multifunctional potential of DE sensors.
