We conducted a national survey of Veterans Affairs (VA) and nonfederal hospitals in 2025 to assess diagnostic stewardship practices. Strategies to reduce inappropriate urine testing and gastrointestinal pathogen panels were most common and similarly adopted, while VA hospitals reported greater penicillin allergy testing uptake (36.6% vs 21%; p=0.005).
