Developing hybrid thiomaltodextrins as specific ligands to the maltodextrin transporter of Escherichia coli

We synthesized hybrid thiomaltodextrins targeting malE of Escherichia coli ( E. coli ). They did not bind to malE of Staphylococcus aureus but bound to malE of E. coli and are likely internalized by E. coli .
