Madina Shibliyeva, Feran Aşur
Objective: This study aims to determine the adequacy of overhead shading shading elements in the urban landscape of these heavily used public open green spaces in Baku and to develop recommendations for identified deficiencies.Materials and Methods: Park Boulevard, Merkezi park, Gençlik park and Kış Park constitute the main material of this study. On-site inspections, observations, measurements, photographs, and information from relevant institutions were obtained in these parks. Verbal interviews were conducted with users and expert opinions were sought to develop evidence-based design proposals.Findings: The adequacy of the canopy elements was determined as a result of the evaluations. According to the findings, 90% of visitors think that Park Bulvar, 100%, Merkezi Park, 80% Kış Park, and 85% that Gençlik Park need canopies. Conclusion: For the areas where deficiencies were identified, design proposals were developed for the creation of overhead shading elements, using building materials suitable to the site's and environmental conditions of the area.
