DETERMINATION OF PARAMETERS FOR STABLE DEFORMATION CUTTINGFORMING SLOT MATRICES ON AISI 321 STEEL TO CREATE SELF-LUBRICATING SLIDING FRICTION SURFACES

Denis Cukanov, Nikolai Zubkov

The article considers the influence of technological parameters of the deformation cutting process on the geometric dimensions of matrices of self-lubricating friction surfaces. The factors that have the greatest impact on the stability of the deformation cutting process of corrosion-resistant austenitic steel AISI321 are investigated: preliminary surface preparation, geometric parameters of the cutting tool, and operating parameters of processing. It has been found that when preparing the surface, the simultaneous increase in the front angle and radius at the top of the cutting tool reduces the depth of the reinforced layer when preparing the surface before deforming cutting. An analysis of experimental data on the variation of geometric parameters of the tool showed that increasing the main angle in the plan (φ) makes it possible to increase the ratio t/S (cutting depth/feed) of stable deformation cutting: a cutting tool with a main angle in the plan of φ =40.9° makes it possible to obtain a rib height 1.4 times higher than the fin pitch. Increasing the processing speed from V= 0.49 m/s to V= 1.57 m/s without changing the geometric parameters of the tool makes it possible to increase the stability (in terms of the t/S ratio) of deformation cutting by 1.3 times. Recommendations are given for the preparation of matrices made of AISI321 steel by deformational cutting, which make it possible to obtain a macrorelief with different edge pitch and height of the self-lubricating layer from 0.3 mm to 0.71 mm.
