Delayed intestinal impaction following functional end‐to‐end stapled jejunal anastomosis in a dog

A 4‐year‐old, spayed, female Cocker Spaniel presented with a chronic history of intermittent prayer positioning and had a firm, painful mass‐like structure in the abdomen. The dog had historically undergone a functional end‐to‐end stapled anastomosis. The dog was diagnosed with an impaction of digesta at the previous anastomosis site and was treated successfully with a further jejunal resection and sutured end‐to‐end anastomosis.
