Decent Work and Regional Economic Development in China
Jie Shen, Bingtao ZhangUsing data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), this study evaluates levels of perceived decent work and their association with provincial gross domestic product (GDP) in China. The findings demonstrate an upward trajectory in perceived decent work between 2016 and 2020. Additionally, a positive relationship is found between provincial GDP growth and perceptions of decent work. These results provide valuable insights into the complexities of decent work dynamics within a transitioning economy such as China, thereby enriching scholarly understanding of the determinants influencing individuals’ work experiences. Practical implications are discussed.
