Cultural Competence Among Greek Midwives and Its Influencing Factors: A Cross-Sectional Study
Konstantinos Dimparas, Pinelopi Varela, Michael Rovithis, Anna DeltsidouIntroduction:
Research on cultural competence (CC) in Greek midwifery settings is limited. This study aimed to assess the level of CC among Greek midwives and identify the factors influencing it.
Methods:
In this cross-sectional study, the Greek version of the Clinical Culture Competency Questionnaire was administered to 175 midwives.
Results:
The CC level was moderate. Midwives who had lived outside Greece, were unmarried, attended intercultural health seminars, and socialized with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds had higher CC levels.
Discussion:
Additional cultural training and education within Greek midwifery environments are needed to enhance CC levels.
