Criteria Oriented Psychological Indicators as Predictors of Professional Excellence of Sportsmen
A. I. Kharitonova, D. V. Davidenko, D. A. EfimovThe study is aimed at identifying criteria oriented psychological predictors of professional excellence of sportsmen determined by the status of a champion taking into account a sports title, gender, and experience. Three psychological profiles have been identified, their correlation with skill level, however, is statistically insignificant. When controlling objective factors, important championship predictors are low impulsivity, low indices on the scale “compliance with the rules” and a high stress level. Thus, to predict professional excellence specific criteria oriented indicators are better than integral profiles. The results obtained are of practical value for developing criteria of professional selection and psychological counselling of sportsmen.
