Counter-product analysis with state-resolved ion-imaging: photodissociation dynamics studies of amine and amide

Momiji Karino, Hiroshi Kohguchi

Abstract

State-resolved scattering measurement for photodissociation products reveals a detailed reaction mechanism as nuclear motion on potential energy surfaces. The method further provides counter-product analysis to elucidate the electronic and rovibrational state distributions of the product whose spectroscopic detection is restricted. Polyatomic photodissociation is suited to this approach because spectroscopic detection schemes for radical species in the branched product channels are often not established. The details and the application to amine and amide photodissociation of the counter-product analysis are presented.
