Corrosion Findings in ETF Vessels at a DOE Facility

Megan Dahl, Ryan Crosswhite, Glenn Edgemon

The Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF) at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hanford Site in southeast Washington state removes chemical and radioactive contaminants from liquid waste before the treated liquid is discharged to the environment. Visible regions of external and internal metallic vessel inspections are conducted at designated periodic intervals via remote camera operation to observe and report instances of corrosion or other defects and to offer recommendations supporting the facility’s integrity program. The results of internal inspections of several metallic vessels at the ETF are presented here.
