Corporate Legal Communication
Antoine Masson, Olimpia Giuliana LoddoAbstract
This chapter provides a comprehensive analysis of corporate legal communication, emphasizing its strategic role within the interdisciplinary framework of Law & Management. Legal communication is conceptualized as more than the mere exchange of information; it is portrayed as a dynamic process that influences behaviors, shapes social realities, and fosters alignment between legal and managerial imperatives. The authors explore two foundational questions: the modalities of legal communication in corporate settings and its strategic rationale. Drawing on theoretical perspectives such as communicative action and semiotics, the chapter investigates contemporary methodologies including visual law, legal design, and prototyping that enhance the intelligibility and efficacy of legal documents. Furthermore, it critically examines the deployment of legal communication as a mechanism for risk mitigation, litigation strategy, and crisis management, while also exploring its potential to convert legal constraints into competitive opportunities. Through detailed case studies, the chapter illustrates how organizations leverage legal communication to manage reputational risks, shape regulatory environments, and integrate legal instruments into branding and corporate identity. The study contributes to the discourse on legal innovation by highlighting the transformative potential of strategic communication in bridging legal expertise with corporate performance objectives, advocating for its recognition as a pivotal factor in organizational resilience and competitive strategy.
