Cooperative Event-Triggered Forwarding with Compressed Sensing in Multi-Hop Wireless Sensor Networks

Wei Xing, Ying Guo, Xudong Zhao, Yuhan Wang

To address the degradation of state estimation accuracy induced by channel fading in multi-hop wireless sensor networks, this paper proposes a novel approach that integrates cooperative communication, compressed sensing and an event-triggered forwarding strategy. By introducing cooperative relay nodes at the forwarding layer, the proposed method leverages spatial diversity gain to enhance the packet arrival rate \(\gamma_{k}^{i}\). Simultaneously, compressed sensing is utilized to reduce the payload volume, which, combined with the event-triggered forwarding strategy to mitigate unnecessary transmissions, achieves a dual optimization of energy efficiency and reliability. Simulation results demonstrate that under low signal-to-noise ratio channel conditions, the proposed strategy significantly improves system stability while maintaining low energy consumption.
