Constrain as an advantage: selective metal-templated synthesis of sterically hindered phthalocyanine photosensitizers and their application for light-triggered release from liposomes

Sterically constrained positional isomers of a non-aggregating α-aryl tetrasubstituted phthalocyanine were selectively obtained in high yields for the first time via a Mg-templated synthesis route.
