Abstract

Infectious keratitis is common in the rural community. Access to medical care may be limited and so is the knowledge on the part of treating ophthalmologist and patients themselves. Targeted treatment is the key in managing infective keratitis and avoiding the requirement of surgical intervention. However, provision of such high-end care in rural and remote areas is a challenge. Even after providing such care, patient education and understanding can pose challenges in their ability to comply with the treatment plan, sometimes leading to devastating complications. We report such a case of consequence of poor compliance of a patient in the treatment of severe infective keratitis.
