Concurrent Autoimmune Disease and Oral Mucosal Fibrosis: Pemphigus Vulgaris with Oral Submucous Fibrosis
Komal Zungre, Aarati PanchbhaiPemphigus is an autoimmune illness that causes blisters on the mucosa. The disorder is distinguished by the development of autoantibodies against desmosomal glycoproteins. In pemphigus vulagaris oral lesions may be the first signs, so dentists should beknow with all clinical findings, diagnosis, and management. This reports a case of pemphigus vulgaris (PV) in a 53-year-old lady who had ulcers on her right and left buccal mucosa, tongue, and palate. Clinical examination and histology led us to the diagnosis of PV. If left undiagnosed or untreated, PV can be lethal. Early detection allows for more suitable treatment and a better prognosis.
