Conclusion: Rethinking Educational Leadership Through the Lens of Wellbeing

Walker, Benjamin Kutsyuruba, Sabre Cherkowski, Julia MahfouzIn this concluding chapter, we first revisit the conceptual focus of this book with a brief overview of research literature related to school leader wellbeing, leadership wellbeing as an antecedent to positive impact, and on organizational and system-level wellbeing. We then summarize the key lessons within the five shared themes observed in the book: relational leadership and trust; wellbeing and resilience; administrative overload and work intensification; ethical leadership; and support, mentorship, and professional learning. Finally, we present reflective examples from the chapters across a number of these major themes, comparing and contrasting them with the findings from extant literature.
