ABSTRACT

We report the genome sequences of two syntrophic bacteria, Syntrophomonas wolfei subsp. saponavida SD2 ^T and Syntrophomonas wolfei subsp. methylbutyratica 4J5 ^T , that degrade a variety of short, branched, or long-chain saturated fatty acids to obtain energy when grown in co-culture with a suitable hydrogen-consuming microbial partner strain.
