Compensating pile foundation

High-rise buildings with one or more basements can be beneficially use compensated raft foundation when the buildings are constructed in soft clay or loose sand. The weight of the soil removed for the basement construction can be deducted from the building’s compensating pile foundation load when designing a raft.
