Background:
Ultrasound (USG)-guided supraclavicular blocks are an asset in the realm of regional anaesthesia. Newer approaches, such as USG plus peripheral nerve stimulator (PNS), have often been indicated for better outcomes.
Aim:
The aim of the study was to compare USG versus combined PNS plus USG-guided supraclavicular blocks of brachial plexus for upper limb surgeries.
Methods:
A prospective, comparative study was conducted among 82 participants undergoing upper limb surgeries guided via USG (Group A;
Results:
The procedure time for the block, onset of motor and sensory block was significantly less for USG-guided block (
Conclusion:
USG plus PNG-guided blocks experienced a higher success rate than USG-guided blocks. USG-guided supraclavicular blocks had shorter procedure time with faster onset of motor and sensory block, highlighting its potential advantages.
