Companilactobacillus beilinensis sp. nov., Isolated from Traditional Chinese Pickle
Liang Jin, Chun-Tao GuA novel bacterium (designated y65-5T) was identified using a polyphasic approach in this study. Strain y65-5T was isolated from ‘Suan cai’, a kind of traditional Chinese pickle. Both 16S rRNA gene phylogeny and phylogenomic analysis indicated that strain y65-5T was related to the type strains of Companilactobacillus allii, Companilactobacillus insicii, Companilactobacillus hulinensis, Companilactobacillus nodensis, and Companilactobacillus jidongensis. Strain y65-5T had the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities (98.8 and 98.7%, respectively) with C. hulinensis 8-1(1)T and C. jidongensis 204-8T. Strain y65-5T had 77.4–80.8% average nucleotide identity, 21.1–23.9% digital DNA-DNA hybridization, and 80.1–84.5% average amino acid identity values with the type strains of C. allii, C. insicii, C. hulinensis, C. nodensis, and C. jidongensis. Based upon the data obtained in the present study, a novel species, Companilactobacillus beilinensis sp. nov., is proposed, and the type strain is y65-5T (=JCM 38530T=GDMCC 1.6611T).
